Early Life, Real Name, Parents and Siblings
Snowbird was named Amora Jean, and is the first daughter born to Ami and Billy Brown, after the two had welcomed five sons, Matt, Bam, Gabe, Bear, and Noah. She has been raised in Alaska, which in large part affected her later life. She hasn’t attended any school, but instead has been focused on learning how to survive in the Alaskan wilderness.
Life in Alaska
From an early age, Snowbird has been taught survivalist skills in Alaska, such as hunting and living off the grid. When she was only five years old, her older brothers took her on a fishing trip, during which they expected that young Snowbird would need an extreme amount of help. However, she managed on her own, and since then has proved to her brothers that she is capable of living without any help. During her formative years, the Brown family had a number of problems, including losing their home in a fire and wandering throughout the Alaskan wilderness, until moving back to the lower 48 states.
Life in Seattle and Return to Alaska
During the Brown family’s stay in Seattle, Billy started writing an autobiography, and so recording stories about their lives in remote Alaska. His books, “One Wave At A Time”, and “Teacher of the Old Code”, helped him gain the attention of the Discovery Channel, and subsequently a home for the Brown family in remote Alaska.
“Alaskan Bush People”
Once the producers from the Discovery Channel heard Billy’s story, they offered him and his family a reality show that would follow the family’s daily activities in Alaska. Billy accepted the offer, and the Brown family headed once again to Alaska. Firstly, they moved from one place to another, building shelters against the harsh winters. They finally settled in Hoonah, which is on Chichagof Island. Launched in 2014, the show has most recently finished its seventh season and is popular with viewers, attracting an average of over 2.3 million per episode. The highest rating was in the 3rd season’s finale with 3.98 million viewers. The show made Snowbird a star, alongside the rest of the family, and which certainly helped her to increase her wealth.
